The Selection Palette allow you to change atoms and bonds very easily.
The palette has two columns and fifteen rows. The left column specifies the type of atom or bond and the second column specifies the pattern that is used for identifying each of the atoms or bonds.
The first eleven rows are the currently installed atoms, and the last four rows are the possible bonds that may appear.
To change any one of the installed atoms to another atom, option-click (that is hold down the option key while clicking) in the first column of the desired row. A window with the periodic table will appear in which you may select another atom in place of the current one. The other atoms that are installed are disabled so that you may not re-choose them. Clicking Cancel does not change the atom. This will only work on a Macintosh with at least 240K bytes of memory allocated to the program.
To change the pattern of any one of the installed atoms, option-click in the second column of the desired row, and a pattern editor similar to the one in MacPaint will appear where you can edit the selected pattern. You may also edit patterns in the periodic table by option-clicking on any of the atoms in the table.
When at least one atom is selected, you may click on one of the installed atoms in the palette and the selected atom(s) will be changed to the atom which was clicked.
When at least one bond is selected, you may click on one of the bonds in the palette and the selected bond(s) will be changed to the bond which was clicked.
When only two atoms are selected, clicking on a bond will place a bond of that type between the two atoms.
Quick 'N' Dirty works in the last three options when checked.
The bonds that are available for use are s (single), d (double), t (triple) and o (other).
